  • Keep your trash in containers with tight fitting lids.

  • Do not leave pet food outside for more than one hour. 

  • Store people and pet food in tightly sealed metal or glass containers, asthin plastic or paper containers are easily overcome by rodents.

  • Remove outdoor feeders for birds and other wildlife.

  • Inspect your yard daily and pick up any fallen fruit or nuts.

Removing harborages

  • Remove any abandoned items in your yard such as furniture and appliances.

  • Store firewood off the ground and well away from the home.

  • Keep the shrubs, weeds plants trimmed back from the foundation.

Removing easy access to your home

  • Inspect your home’s exterior for cracks and openings that are larger than ¼ inch and seal any areas that are an open invitation to rodents including areas where utilities and pipes enter.

  • Screen vents and install chimney caps.

  • Repair or replace damaged or torn screens in windows and doors.
