ROCHESTER HILLS — According to Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials, the number of giant Canada geese in Michigan has increased from about 9,000 in 1970 to more than
300,000 today.
The Heatherwood Village Homeowners Association will soon be implementing an MDNR Canada Goose nest destruction and roundup program.
The program includes nest destruction, and as last resort, a goose roundup. The MDNR permit allows the removal and destruction of goose eggs to assist in goose population control. "It is an important program for our entire city,” Council member Erik Ambrozaitis said. “I encourage residents who are having the same problem to get involved and take advantage of this program.”
